Do you need to be on Threads?

We understand you are just getting a grip on uploading to Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and TikTok so the idea of adding another app is just a little too much to handle. That's why we are here to help you understand exactly what Thread is and if it will be beneficial to you and your business.

So what exactly is Threads?

Threads is the newest social media app on the block. It's similar to Twitter. The platform was launched by Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp-parent Meta on July 5th. Thread is a text-based public conversation app. Whether you are a creator or a casual poster, Threads offers a new, separate space for real-time updates and public conversation. The aim is to take what Instagram does best, sharing images, and expand that into text, creating a space to express your ideas. Just like Instagram you can follow and connect with friends and businesses who share your interests.

Who is it for?

As the app is so new it really is for everyone and anyone. Think of it as a giant group chat for a community you want to be a part of. Do you have a new idea for the business but are you unsure how people will respond? Share it on Threads for some community help. At this early stage, you can really use it for anything you want. If you were unsure if you should jump on the bandwagon, now would be the best time to do so when it really is fresh and new.

How to use it as a business

Now the tricky part, is where does it fit in with your already busy social media schedule? Think of it as the space for people with more time to engage with long-form content like text and 5-minute videos. Businesses can use it as a platform to ask questions to potential customers about their product or service. You can use it in a more personal way to get to know your audience. Currently, no one wants it to be for selling or calls to action like Facebook and Instagram have become. It can be a way of sharing your business in a more genuine way. You can maintain authenticity while also potentially making sales without shoving it in people's faces.

Do you need Threads?

You don't need to be on every social media platform. Focus on the ones that your potential customers actually use. It can be fun to experiment with new things so you can always dip your feet in the water with Threads and see if you like it. If you are a business owner, Threads could be a great space to build your personal brand. It's all about trial and error (or trial and success!).

For the moment, Meta's new app feels like a familiar mix of both Instagram and Twitter. It remains to be seen how the platform will evolve in response to users and the use of advertising demands but for the time being it is a new, fun app for everyone to share their creative side again instead of going through the motions and we are here for it!
